The Groove Issue 98 - Have A Creative Summer
HAVE A CREATIVE SUMMER
Hello from Spain!
I’m on vacation for the next two weeks, but while I’m out I wanted to give you a remix of good articles (mine and from others) that will keep you digging about the creative process, thinking about exciting projects and hopefully inspiring you to take action now or in the near future.
1. If in the past you’ve come up with your best ideas while on the beach, by the pool or on a lake, there’s a scientific explanation for why being close to water triggers a creative flow.
2. People tend to be happier during the summer months due to an increase in serotonin triggered by more vitamin D, which in turn is stimulated by prolonged exposure to sunlight. There’s a connection between creativity and happiness as well, so this is the right time to put your ideas in order and look for ways to execute them.
3. Now that the dust around NFTs has settled a bit, it’s a better time to look at them not with FOMO but with a level head and cold mind.
4. Same approach should be taken with the more complex metaverse.
5. Some marketing hacks never expire. Here are the five most important that Salvador Dali used over and over again to reign supreme as the king of surrealism.
6. This article left me thinking for a long time after I read it. It does reflect on many of the things I come back often to here in The Groove, especially the concept of how echo chambers are killing creativity across sectors.
7. Which brings me to a May 2022 essay published in The Atlantic about how social media is dividing our society and creating a Tower of Babel.
8. Incidentally, I wrote about the same exact topic 14 months before The Atlantic did.
