The "C" Files - a TV Show
I am thrilled to announce the release of The “C” Files with Maria Brito, a new television broadcast, streaming and digital series that initiates honest conversations with artists about social, political and cultural issues. This series is presented in partnership with All Arts, a new TV channel, streaming and digital platform owned by WNET/PBS.
I created, wrote and hosted The “C” Files as the gateway for genuine dialogue about topics like income inequality, immigration, the opioid epidemic, race, gender and cultural appropriation. There is an undeniable role art plays in these cultural conversations, and while some people see contemporary art as conceptual, minimalistic or impenetrable, it is in fact an unvarnished and provocative lens through which we see the world we live in today. Art doesn’t live in a vacuum and artists don’t lie. Art represents cultural identity and that is valid now more than ever. Art embodies the aesthetic standard of the day and provides a window into the historical context of the time.
In the first four episodes, the artists featured include Sanford Biggers, Hank Willis Thomas and Eric Gottesman as co-founders of For Freedoms, Juliana Huxtable and Swoon.
The first episode is already available in digital format here.
This episode will also broadcast on November 6th at 8:00 pm (check local listings here) and available for streaming nationwide via Apple TV and Amazon fire here.
The rest of the episodes will be released on October 30th, November 6th and November 13th, and will remain on the WNET-All Arts Website, App and cable TV rotation.
I hope you watch and enjoy these episodes as much as I did while creating them.
