New York Fashion Week Series: A Fashionable, Artistic Table
To close fashion week on a high note, I wanted to celebrate with a few friends, so I put together a fashion and art inspired tablescape. The images speak for itself and I'm honored and beyond thrilled to have collaborated with the amazing photographer Lianna Tarantin for this post. There are still ten days of summer to go and New York City has been absurdly hot, so all these colors felt right.
I needed flowers, and my nearby deli provided the perfect roses for my tablescape and for capturing the light of these last days of summer.
If you have been following me for a while, you must know that I'm obsessed with plates, like I reported here. I took different pieces from my collection and made a mismatched combination but tried to highlight a few colors like yellow and red. I used a tablecloth by Sentou in Paris which was developed out of a photograph of the windows of Notre Dame. I love that it resembles both a piece of op art and an avant garde fashion piece.
I used plates from contemporary artists and designers including Robert Indiana, Mickalene Thomas, Campana Brothers, Yayoi Kusama (check out my Yayoi Kusama nails here) and Laurie Simmons. I added a Gaetano Pesce small resin vase, vintage tumblers and bakelite vintage silverware. I find this arrangement to be super cool and original and completely unexpected. And now, Fashion Week behind us, can we move on and really begin the Fall?
