The Catalan artist, Santi Boix, likes to think big and dream big. No wonder he did that giant mural at the Brooklyn Museum inspired by Huckleberry Finn. It is also not so crazy to think that he could go after that 200 foot wall inside the iconic and architectonically stunning Prada store in SoHo. And he did. So Santi, who is represented by one of my favorite galleries, Paul Kasmin, was commissioned by Prada to paint, on top of a rotating mural created by design studio 2x4. The mural will be on view until August 31.
Moix says of the work: “The idea was to try to create a kind of tattoo for the reclining giant. I approached the light and dark parts of the body as different kinds of landscapes. Since fashion and contemporary art are so intertwined and this collaborations, some of which I have bee fortunate to orchestrate, make me so excited, I also wanted to share the gorgeous video that was created to commemorate this remarkable project. I hope you can watch it, so click below, it's totally worth it.
