Art and Design Shows in Paris, Summer 2014

I just arrived in Paris which of course is bursting with beautiful contemporary and modern art shows as well as fashion and design exhibitions.  The following are some of the shows that I plan on visiting each in between all my meetings. Follow me on instagram to see if I'm able to make it:

G.I.R.L at Galerie Perrotin:

Emmanuel Perrotin has just opened a second space and what better way to inaugurate it than with a show curated by Pharrell Williams?  G.I.R.L is a tribute to women and an inviting celebration that marks the release of Pharell's eponymous album. I can't wait to see it.

Dries at Musee des Arts Decoratifs

What can I say that hasn't been told about Dries van Noten? Maybe that it took too long to have its own exhibit at Les Arts Decoratifs? The images that I saw of this retrospective-cum-moodboard of the fantastic Belgium designer have whet my appetite for more chunky crazy heels and sculptural dresses.

Lucio Fontana at Musee d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris

I have always been fascinated with Fontana's desire to trick the viewer, to lure people into believing what is not. The works of the founder of the "Spatialist Movement" feel as current today as they were in 1947 and I want to see them all in the ample halls of this fantastic museum.

Mario Testino at Galerie Yvon Lambert

Entitled "Extremes", the Peruvian darling of all the fashion magazines is having his first solo show in Paris. The exhibition shows the highly-saturated images that only Mario knows how to take: with glam and flaire.
