Art Basel Year 44

Every era gets the art world it deserves
— Herald Falckenberg

Two days ago I went to the launch of "Art Basel I Year 44" a very spectacular book published by Art Basel and JRP|Ringier, which captures in almost 800 pages the great excitement that 2013 brought to this important art fair: their 44th year and the first to include three shows on three continents.  I loved seeing the lavish images that bring recent memories to mind and the juxtaposition of experiences in Basel, Miami and Hong Kong, respectively.  There are Q&As with each of the 527 galleries that participated in the three fairs last year and interviews, essays and highlights from curators, artists, museum directors and more. Below are some of the pictures I took myself of the contents of this extraordinary volume.  Anyone who is into art and has been following the incredible evolution of Art Basel should get this book.
