Best Design & Decor Shops in Paris

Paris is a city with buoyant and creative home design shops and galleries.  From objets d'art to contemporary and mid-century modern furniture, light fixtures, textiles and rugs, I always find something new.  I have highlighted some of my favorite finds during my Spring trip here and below are my top 13 shops all of which I tend to check quite frequently online and in person:

Colette, 213 Rue Saint-Honoré +33 1 55 35 33 90 http://www.colette.fr which pretty much started the concept store frenzy, still carries the best of the best in fashion and unique designs.

Arty Dandy, 1 Rue de Furstenberg 75006 +33 1 43 54 00 36 www.artydandy.com is fabulously creative and offers fashion, art, and unusual objects, and almost everything has an undeniable sense of humor.

Sentou, 26 Boulevard Raspail +33 1 45 49 00 05 and 29 Rue François Miron +33 1 42 78 50 60 www.sentou.fr has some of the coolest designs for the home and carries great stuff for kids, especially the 100drine collection.

Merci, 111 Boulevard Beaumarchais +33 1 42 77 00 33www.merci-merci.com is located in an enormous airy space that feels quiet and zen, while at the same time presents fashion, accessories, kitchen items, and a selection of ethnic furniture and upholstered pieces that is exceptionally good.

La Galerie Moderne 52 rue Mazarine +33 1 46 33 13 59 www.lagaleriemoderne.com has many pieces by such great Italian architects as Gaetano Pesce and the late Ettore Sottass, Jr.

Electrorama 11 Boulevard Saint-Germain +33 1 40 46 78 11 www.electrorama.fr has an impressive selection of lamps from the 1960s to today.

La Boutique Scandinave, 8 Rue Martel 75010 +33 1 40 22 02 67  www.laboutiquescandinave.com carries plenty of Scandinavian designers, both known and soon-to-be-known.

Steiner 80 Boulevard Sebastopol+33 1 42 72 82 82; 67 Boulevard Raspail +33 1  45 48 94 61; and 37 Rue du Commerce +33 1  45 75 29 98 www.steiner-paris.comrepresents hard to find designers like Kwok Hoi Chan, whose chromatique modules I love.

Caravane 6, rue Pavée + 33 1 44 61 04 20 www.caravane.fr, captures the bohemian chic style so well.

Baobab, 18 Rue Saint Croix de la Bretonnerie,   www.baobab-home.fr  with its colorful vintage patchwork fabrics, pillows, and throws.

107Rivoli, 107 rue de Rivoli +33 1 42 60 64 94 www.lesartsdecoratifs.fr in the shopping arcade under the Musee des Arts Decoratifs, has innovative tableware, costume jewelry, and an interior design and architecture bookstore like no other in Paris.

Printemps Design, Centre Pompidou, Place Georges Pompidou +33 1 44 78 15 78 www.printemps.com the shop at the Centre Georges Pompidou, is also full of inspirational design objects.

Serendipity 81 Rue du Cherche-Midi +33 1 40 46 01 15 www.serendipity.fr offers one of a kind pieces and exclusive collaborations with designers from all over the world. I also love everything at department store

Le Bon Marché, 24 Rue de Sèvres +33 1 44 39 80 00 www.lebonmarche.com whose clothing selections are really edited to show the best brands and the most exclusive pieces. The second floor, which was re-named the Maison d’Edition, has more than 80,000 square feet of the absolute best of fine living, including furniture by Charlotte Perriand and Jean Prouve, Vitra pieces, David Weeks lamps, hundreds of unique stationary sets, and a bookstore with some of the best design, art, fashion, and architecture books.
